Simple & Essential: Clean the Grill

During the summer, there’s nothing better than grabbing fresh vegetables and your favorite meats and heading to the patio for a cookout.  If you want to bring out the most delectable taste of your foods, keep a clean grill.

  1. Clean the Grates- While the grill is still warm, use a brass or stainless steel wire brush.  Every food has its own flavor, and many people would like to keep it that way.  Cleaning the grates allows you to get all the extra residue off of the grill that might have come from the meal before.
  2. Clean the Grill Brush- Use hot, soapy water to prevent bacteria from growing because of food caught in the bristles.  Using old, clogged brushes means spreading around old grime instead of cleaning off new messes.  YUCK!
  3. Empty the Grease Catch Pan- Heat from the grill can cause grease to catch fire, so wipe the pan after every use.

Grill cleaning is part of the grill cooking experience, whether you like it or not.  Do not compromise your delicious grilled meal by putting off cleaning.
