Living in Tampa: A UDR Associate’s Tips & Tricks

Our leasing teams hold the key to an untapped wealth of knowledge. When you need to know where to go in Tampa, UDR team members know the way. We caught up with Kayla Shaver, a Marketing Associate at the apartment community, Summit West for her tips and tricks for enjoying the area.

What are the top three restaurants you recommend to new residents?

KS: Gator’s Dockside is a casual dining restaurant with great wings just right across the street from Summit West. You could walk! Longhorn Steakhouse is about 3 miles away and always a guaranteed great dinner location. Their Outlaw Ribeye is the best! Mermaid Tavern has a great wine list and food, try the mac and cheese and the tavern fries!

What are the best after work happy hours nearby?

KS: Casa Ramos Mexican has BOGO margaritas and domestic drafts every day from 4-7 and all day on Sundays! Their food comes in large portions and always fast.

What is the most romantic place to dine at nearby?

KS: Iavarone’s Italian Steakhouse is only about 15 minutes away and is the perfect date night location. They have romantic lighting, amazing food and a cozy atmosphere. Their house salad is like none other and the tuna is always prepared perfectly.

Where should families with young children go to enjoy a day or evening in the area?

KS: Mosi Science Museum and Busch Gardens are right around the corner for families to enjoy a day or evening out! If you are looking for an escape to the great outdoors, Lettuce Lake Regional Park offers scenic walking trails, picnic areas and non-motorized water activities. Great for all ages!

Need a gift to impress. Where’s the place to shop?

KS: University Mall is just a few miles away from the property and they have all the basics you are looking for. About 15 minutes to the north is The Shops at Wiregrass, which is an outdoor mall. About 15 minutes south is Brandon shopping plaza, which has every store you can think of!

Tell us a bit more about yourself?

Kayla ShaverKS: I have only lived in the area for a year, but I love all of the options for food and activities! From comedy clubs to wine bars to roller coaster, I still have not put a dent in everything there is to do in the area. I love being outdoors and taking my dog to the dog park right around the corner, but it is also nice to get dressed up and go out to dinner to one of the many great restaurants in the area.
