Labor Day Vacations on Different Coasts

Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer. If, like most people, you are using the long weekend for one last vacation, you may want to consider Cape Cod, Massachusetts or Orange County, California. Each destination offers a diverse array of lodging and activity options for a family-friendly weekend, a girls’ getaway or a romantic retreat.

Beachfront Beauty

Many residents of our luxury apartment communities on the East Coast enjoy spending time in Cape Cod, with its 115 sandy beaches scattered along nearly 560 miles of unblemished coastline. The 40-mile long Cape Cod National Seashore is considered one of the best beaches in the world. Whether you prefer camping under the stars, relaxing in a quaint bed and breakfast or pampering yourself in a lux hotel, there are plenty of options that boast spectacular views of the ocean. Vacation rentals on Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket, the two islands just off the Cape, are also popular lodging options with spectacular scenery.

Amazing Amenities

There are 42 miles of meticulously manicured beaches in Orange County. Of course there is plenty of sand and surf in each of the sophisticated yet casual towns found here, but there are also many other natural wonders enjoy: dramatic cliffs with rocky lookouts, coastal foothills and tide pools teeming with marine life. The California coast is also peppered with plenty of resorts that offer on-site amenities such as:

  • Private beach cabanas
  • Championship golf courses
  • Tennis courts
  • Gourmet restaurants

Some resorts even offer multiple swimming pools: adults only pools with fully-stocked poolside bars and family-friendly pools with shallow waters.

Area Attractions

In either location, you can spend one day exploring lighthouses and swimming in the ocean, the next day hiking and biking and the next day golfing or shopping.  The Shining Sea Bikeway is a favorite ride in Massachusetts; golfers love the links at Pelican Hill in California.

Even though they are on opposite coasts, both Orange County and Cape Cod have beautiful ocean backdrops in common. They also have flexible accommodations and offer the exclusive amenities and services to make your last vacation of the summer perfect.
