Outside Your Apartment
Fresh air is invigorating. There is no better time than summer to think outside the box and energize your workout with a new routine. On the Beach
Sure, there are times when all you want to do on the beach is dig your toes into the sand and relax with a cool, refreshing beverage in one hand and a sizzling read in the other. When you’re refreshed and ready for some fun in the sun though, join in a game of beach volleyball—it is great exercise! Your thighs and butt get a work hard every time you squat to get under the ball, your core is engaged to help you maintain balance and your upper body gets a workout each time you bump, set or spike the ball. Not to mention that you burn more calories when you play on the soft, uneven sand rather than on a flat, indoor court. If volleyball isn’t your thing, try stand-up paddle boarding in the ocean or rollerblading on the boardwalk to stay in shape during the summer months.
