Best OC Beaches to Visit This Summer

Orange County is home to 42 miles of coastline alongside the beautiful blue waters of the Pacific Ocean. The beaches here are as diverse as the residents of the OC. Some boast long stretches of pristine sand, sprinkled with sun-kissed bodies and volleyball nets, while others are quiet, crescent-shaped coves framed by rocky promontories. Even if you have a tried and true favorite, it’s always fun to visit a new beach and discover all that it has to offer. Here are my top four best OC beaches to visit this summer.

Favorite for Family Fun

Little Corona Del Mar is ideal for families with young children or those looking to snorkel in seclusion. The water in this pocketed beach is a calmer than other spots—you don’t have to worry about the undertow as much. Young and old alike enjoy watching the waves crash into the rocks on either side of the beach at high tide, and there are plenty of tide pools to explore at low tide.

Best People Watching

Huntington Beach is a bustling town with something for everyone. The Huntington Beach Pier is home to a variety of restaurants, bars and stores, drawing laid-back surfers and high-strung shoppers alike. From bodybuilders working on their tans to bikers and skateboarders cruising along Ocean Strand there is a constant cast of characters to watch while you bask in the sun. Cool nights and beach bonfires keep the party going long after the sun sets. Plan a day at Huntington Beach!

Perfect for Yachting

If you’d rather be sailing a yacht instead of sitting on a beach, check out the 5-star resort town Dana Point. It boasts one of the most beautiful yacht harbors in California, with easy access to a full-service yacht club, jetski rentals and fishing charters. Whale and dolphin watching tours are also popular in this area.
