4 Fantastic Places to Travel in February

February—that month sandwiched between the craziness of Christmas and Spring Break—is perhaps the perfect time to travel. Whether you prefer a domestic or international escape, the crowds are typically thinner and the rates lower during the second month of the year. If you’re looking for an unforgettable trip, try one of these destinations.

Aspen, Colorado

Generally speaking, Aspen receives more fresh powder in February than in January. Hit the snowy slopes and enjoy spectacular views without throngs of people getting in your way. When you’re ready to spend some time inside, check out a show at the intimate Wheeler Opera House.

Costa Rica, Central America

If you’re in search of a warmer climate during the cold winter months, head down to Costa Rica. February boasts temperatures hovering right around 80°F and you don’t have to worry about the rain ruining your beach day since this is also the dry season. The Puntarenas Carnival takes place just before Lent. During this cultural celebration tourists from all over the world enjoy unique cultural parades, dance into the night and watch spectacular fireworks.

San Francisco, California

Union Square is brimming with hotels perfect for a romantic getaway on Valentine’s Day or any other day of the month. Stroll hand-in-hand on a Gourmet Chocolate Tour by day and pamper yourselves at the Nob Hill Spa where you can enjoy a couple’s massage and a glass of Champagne at the indoor pool. After the sun sets, find a spot to gaze upon the breathtaking Bay Lights.

Hokkaidō, Japan

Warm up in one of the many natural hot springs found throughout Hokkaidō after a day on the slopes of Niseko or Furano. Besides world-class skiing, February also boasts the Sapporo Snow Festival. This annual event features snow sculptures on the grandest scale, snow slides, concerts and lots of local cuisine.
