11 Beach Bag Essentials

Whether you’re headed out on a day trip to the beach this summer or living the dream spending your summer laying poolside, a properly stocked beach bag is key to maximizing your time in the sun and sand. Here are my 11 beach bag must haves.

1. The Bag

Every beach trip needs a generously sized carryall, which is why finding an extra cute one is essential. A few of my faves:beach-tote-collage

  1. Hayden Reis Flamingo Ditty $158
  2. Will Leather Goods Reversible Canvas Tote $120
  3. CB Station Boat Tote on One Kings Lane $29
  4. Vineyard Vines Chevron Tote $98

2. Beach Hat

Keeping a hat in your bag is a cardinal rule when it comes to sun protection. I’m a fan of baseball caps like this one from Vineyard Vines. But for those that prefer something floppier, this Straw Sun hat from Badgley Mischka is pretty fashionable.

3. Sunglasses

When it comes to pretty much any outdoor trip, sunglasses are an obvious requirement. From a cheap pair from Amazon to a slightly more expensive pair from Michael Kors, rock what you love. Just be careful not to lose them in the water.

4. Phone Battery extender

If your battery dies at the beach, you couldn’t listen to music, you couldn’t post pics to Instagram, the fun day would be over! So don’t take that chance. This inexpensive battery extender acts as an outlet and will provide some boost your phone’s battery life when you find yourself far from your charger. Mophie juice pack,  price ranges by phone model.

5. Waterproof phone pouch

Between the water, sand and sun, the beach is filled with things that can damage your phone. Pouch by Dry Pro, $40 is a great protector with easy access for skipping a song you’re not feeling, or texting your bestie.

6. Reading Material

With so many distractions, short articles are much easier to conquer at the beach, which is why magazines are my beach go-to. For something a bit more intellectual, check out our Summer Reading List.

7. Sunscreen

Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen $11. Because a sunburn isn’t cute on anyone.

8. Lip Balm

Your lips need sunscreen too! Im obsessed with my eos smooth sphere lip balms. The Lemon Drop flavor has an SPF 15- perfect for protection and hydration.

9. Tumbler

Its important to stay hydrated on a hot summer day. So bring a water bottle or cute tumbler like this one from Lilly Pulitzer.

10. Wristlet or Clutch

Ideal for holding essentials like your keys and money, this mini beach bag makes bathroom and restaurant runs super easy. We like the Hayden Reis teal heart wristlet $32 or Vineyard Vines Sequin & Straw Clutch $78

11. Beach Towel

While it may be an often-overlooked accessory, a beach towel is just as important as an amazing swimsuit. Beach-Towel-collage-2
